Jakarta – Chief of Staff to the President Moeldoko enjoined Indonesians to appreciate the country’s success in overcoming both economic and healthcare challenges due to COVID-19 pandemic. Not only that the country sees a relatively lower number of cases and death rates of COVID-19, the country also grasps few bright corners of economic development, said Moeldoko.
“This success is inseparable from the community’s mutual cooperation and awareness, so that the country can provide effective responses against the crisis. The society shows compliance towards the implementation of health protocols, adherence towards PeduliLindungi App, and confidence towards vaccines,” said Moeldoko during a Launching Event for the 2022’s Government Annual Report, in Jakarta, Thursday (20/10).
In terms of economic recovery and growth, Indonesia managed to maintain food supply, as well as securing its availability and affordability, while keeping the people’s purchasing power at the same time. It is not surprising that the country sees continuing economic growth at 5.44 percent (year on year) during this second quarter. The inflation rate remains under control as Indonesia records core inflation of 3.04 percent (year on year).
To cushion the economy, he added, the government provides great support for Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises in the form of financial assistance, credit share increase, and digital transformation boost.
“Currently more than nineteen million MSMEs, out of approximately 32 million target, have been digitized,” said Moeldoko.
The former military commander also said that in the three years of the administration of President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) and Vice President Ma’ruf Amin, there has been an improvement in poverty rates and extreme poverty. As of March 22, the poverty rate fell to 9.54 from the previous 9.71. Meanwhile, extreme poverty, as of September 21, fell by 3.79 from the previous 4.
“So is the stunting prevalence rate which was at 28 in 2019. This year, the rate fell to 21,” said Moeldoko.
Preparing the country to face future’s energy supply shortages, the government has accelerated its Renewable Energy transformation. Among its green policies, the government has recently encouraged government echelons to drive battery-based electric vehicles.
In addition, Indonesia has shown its leadership capacity to the world communities as it successfully held international events such as MotoGP, World Superbike, ASEAN Para Games, and the G20 Presidency.
Meanwhile, the Executive Office of the President in collaboration with the Ministry of Communication and Information (Kemkominfo) launched the 2022’s Government’s Annual Report on Thursday (20/10).
Themed “Rising Towards the Endemic”, the report consists of 70 pages, and is divided into three pillars: dare to face uncertainty, rush for priority agendas, and Indonesia for the world.
