Jakarta – Government has no plan to terminate the 450 Volt Ampere (VA) power supply whose most consumers are small households.
The Executive Office of the President (KSP) emphasized that President Joko Widodo’s commitment to promote community resilience and cut carbon emissions would not put the high energy burdens to the low-income and underserved consumers.
“People don’t need to be worried because the government always ensures the benefits of this reliable and affordable energy supply are conferred equitably among residents, especially those of low-income households,” said Senior Advisor of the Executive Office of the President, Hageng Nugroho, at the Bina Graha building, Jakarta, Wednesday (21/9).
Not only that, President Joko Widodo will not abolish the electricity relief scheme which is currently being given to millions of postpaid state-owned electricity company PLN customers of the 450 VA power supply.
The state-owned electricity company PLN has adjusted the electricity tariff for non-subsidized household customers of 3,500 VA and above. The hike on electricity prices for large houses is mandated through the Ministerial Circular dated 2 June 2022.
According to PLN, customers with power supply below 3,500 VA, would not experience tariff changes. The tariff adjustment aims to ensure equitable access to the benefits of energy efficiency, especially to the under-resourced communities.
