Jakarta – Chief of Staff to the President Moeldoko made a visit to the selection process of the Presidential Staff School (SSP) conducted at the Krida Bhakti Building, Jakarta, Thursday (14/7), to directly oversee the interview stage of the highly anticipated youth program.
“This Presidential Staff School program is a space for young people to first-hand observe how officials and policy makers govern the nation. I supervise this program in person, ensuring its selection process to its enrollment being carried out accordingly,” said Moeldoko.
SSP, initiated by the Executive Office of the President (KSP), aims to look for aspiring young people aged 17 to 26 years old from Greater Jakarta areas to be involved in a six-day learning program. The selected participants will be given an opportunity to study under the KSP’s most prominent advisors, deputies and the Presidential Chief of Staff himself. Among many other things, the students will learn about the management of national priority programs and its debottlenecking efforts.
“Young people today have wide knowledge, partly thanks to advanced technology that allows them to learn from accessible sources. Unfortunately, most talented young people in the country have little to no experience. Thus, SSP will give them strategic, tactical, and practical work experience within the Presidential Palace complex,” said Moeldoko.
Seeing the high enthusiasm from registrants, the former TNI Commander believed that young people cared more about state affairs.
“Only within a few days of its registration phase, the application number had reached more than sixty thousand. It showcases that young people want to contribute and apply their knowledge for the sake of the country,” he said.
Moeldoko, who made a surprise visit to the site, also interviewed one of the candidates named Shania binti Mahir Hamdun who presented her ideas related to trauma healing efforts for children contracted by COVID-19.
The SSP’s registration phase was opened from June 16 to 29 with more than 69,000 young people from Greater Jakarta applying. They were required to send an essay related to youth, state and policy making processes.
The selection team, then, assed the essays based on its quality, feasibility, and originality. One hundred candidates passing this essay selection are invited to the interview stage conducted at the Krida Bhakti building, Jakarta, from July 11 to 15.
“From the 100 candidates passing the essay selection, 35 of them will be selected to officially join the SSP program lasting from July 25 to 29,” said the KSP Senior Advisor, Agung Rulianto.
