Cirebon – In front of thousands of Muslim students and clerics during a religious mass gathering event (Tabligh Akbar) in Cirebon, West Java, on Wednesday (9/11), Chief of Staff to the President Moeldoko warned against the divide and conquer politics as Indonesia approaching to the election year 2024.
In his speech, Moeldoko specifically asked the public not to be trapped into the divide et impera which seeks to pit one against another.
“In the political year there will be partisan divides and factions. It is best for us not to get involved in the partisan feuds and divide-conquer politics. Once we get into it, everything will be complicated and the country will become unstable,” Moeldoko said.
The 2013-2015 TNI Commander emphasized that Indonesia needs stability in all fields; political, economic, social, and security. This situation, he emphasized, must be created in order to increase investment.
Moeldoko added, the government has worked hard to increase investment value both from within and outside the country, so that development is equitable and can create jobs. According to national records, the new workforce per year currently reaches an average 2.5 million people.
While keeping the country’s stability, the government is harmonizing 78 laws through the Omnibus Law of Job Creation to provide regulatory certainty that eases business activities. In addition, the government also continues to build infrastructure in order to guarantee efficient cost in logistics.
“Our supply chain logistics current costs are twenty-five percent higher than countries in ASEAN,” he explained.
Moeldoko also invited the whole community to join hands and work together to assist the government in increasing investment in Indonesia.
“I hope ladies and gentlemen of the congregation can maintain the stability of our country. We shall be solid in unity. Especially now that we are facing global challenges that are not easy at all,” Moeldoko stated.
