Moeldoko Urges Religious Gatherings to Remain Free of Political Agendas

Chief of Staff to the President, Dr. Moeldoko, delivered a speech at the Haul Akbar event held by the Majelis Dzikir Al Khidmah at the Istiqlal Mosque in Jakarta on Sunday (5/3), emphasizing the importance of dzikir gatherings in strengthening Indonesia’s unity.

He expressed his hope that these gatherings would remain solemn as part of religious activities in Indonesian society and not be burdened by political agendas.

Moeldoko commended the Majelis Dzikir Al Khidmah for holding a politically neutral event, despite being attended by political organization figures and state officials. “Like this Al Khidmah dzikir gathering, although attended by political figures and state officials, the activities proceed without political agendas,” he said.

He also highlighted the inclusivity of gatherings like these, which welcome anyone who wants to get closer to Allah SWT without distinguishing clothes and outer skin.

“Such gatherings are inclusive and open to anyone who wants to get closer to Allah SWT without distinguishing clothes and outer skin,” he added.

Furthermore, Moeldoko urged all congregants to pray for Indonesia to overcome the current global crises in food, energy, and finance. He expressed his confidence that the country, under the leadership of President Jokowi and Vice President KH. Maruf Amin, will be able to face these challenges without any obstacles.

“I ask for your prayers, so that Indonesia under President Jokowi and Vice President KH. Maruf Amin’s leadership can overcome these challenges without obstacles,” he said.

The Haul Akbar event was attended by more than two thousand people from various cities in Indonesia, including habaib, kyai, and alim ulama. The Majelis Dzikir Al Khidmah was founded by KH. Ahmad Asrori Al Ishaqi on December 25, 2005, and is based in the Al Fitrah Kedinding Islamic Boarding School in Surabaya.
