Jakarta – In a recent meeting with the Deputy for Social, Cultural, and Community Empowerment of the Ibu Kota Nusantara (IKN) Authority, the Chief of Staff to the President, Moeldoko, expressed his concerns regarding the prompt resolution of land compensation for the development of the new Indonesian capital city. Moeldoko emphasized the importance of fulfilling the agreed-upon compensation payments without delay. The meeting took place at the Bina Graha Building in Jakarta on Monday (10/4).
“Once the price has been agreed upon, the compensation must be paid promptly. We should not procrastinate or overlook matters like this,” stated Moeldoko firmly.
Acknowledging the complexity of the land acquisition compensation issue for the IKN development, Moeldoko emphasized that the Executive Office of the President (KSP) would fully oversee the land acquisition process for IKN. This includes expediting the payment of compensation and ensuring that affected communities receive fair and agreed-upon compensation.
“KSP has experience with Wadas land acquisition. As soon as we intervened and pushed for it, the compensation payments there proceeded swiftly and were concluded. We want the process to move quickly for IKN as well. In the near future, the Presidential Staff Office will invite relevant ministries and institutions,” he added.
Meanwhile, Alimuddin, the Deputy for Social, Cultural, and Community Empowerment of the IKN Authority, conveyed the request of indigenous communities within the IKN area for the government to provide alternative land for relocation. Currently, indigenous communities are facing difficulties in securing land for their new settlements. “They hope for relocation and require approximately nine hectares of land,” stated Alimuddin.
During the meeting, Alimuddin also emphasized the importance of achieving educational balance within the IKN area, particularly for primary and secondary education.
This meeting between Dr. Moeldoko, the Chief of Staff to the President, and Alimuddin, the Deputy for Social, Cultural, and Community Empowerment of the IKN Authority, follows Moeldoko’s working visit to East Kalimantan on February 10, 2023. During that visit, Moeldoko received aspirations from several indigenous communities regarding land acquisition issues in the vicinity of indigenous settlements surrounding IKN.
