Moeldoko: IKN Infrastructure Development Proceeding as Planned

The construction of Indonesia’s new capital city in East Kalimantan, officially known as the Nusantara Capital, is progressing according to plan, according to Dr. Moeldoko, the Chief of Staff to the President.

Moeldoko recently visited the construction site in Penajam Paser Utara and saw first-hand the construction of government infrastructure, including the Presidential Palace and ministry offices. Despite facing weather-related challenges, the development of the capital city is currently at 15% progress, as reported by the Head of the Implementation Task Force of Nusantara Capital Infrastructure Development.

During the visit on Wednesday (8/2), Moeldoko expressed his admiration for President Joko Widodo’s dedication to the new capital city’s development and emphasized the importance of support from all parties to ensure its speedy completion. He noted that the construction of the Nusantara Capital would boost economic growth and other sectors, and called on everyone to refrain from disrupting the process.

Moeldoko also visited the residential area for construction workers and the Sepaku Semoi Dam, and expressed satisfaction with the quality of the facilities. The Indonesian government’s plan for the Nusantara Capital spans from 2022 to 2045 and is divided into five phases.

The first phase, from 2022 to 2024, focuses on basic infrastructure such as water supply, electricity, and waste management. The second phase, from 2025 to 2029, will involve developing the core areas of the city, including public transportation facilities. The third phase, from 2030 to 2034, will focus on industrial and other sector developments, while the fourth and fifth phases, from 2035 to 2039 and from 2040 to 2045, respectively, will aim to achieve net-zero carbon emissions, sustainable industrial development, and making Nusantara Capital the most competitive city in the world.

“The Nusantara Capital project is expected to become a driving force for economic growth and will have a significant impact on the development of the entire country,” said Danis Sumadilaga, Head of the Implementation Task Force of Nusantara Capital Infrastructure Development.

KSP: 450 VA Power Supply Alleviates Energy Burdens For Low-Income Households

Jakarta – Government has no plan to terminate the 450 Volt Ampere (VA) power supply whose most consumers are small households.

The Executive Office of the President (KSP) emphasized that President Joko Widodo’s commitment to promote community resilience and cut carbon emissions would not put the high energy burdens to the low-income and underserved consumers.

“People don’t need to be worried because the government always ensures the benefits of this reliable and affordable energy supply are conferred equitably among residents, especially those of low-income households,” said Senior Advisor of the Executive Office of the President, Hageng Nugroho, at the Bina Graha building, Jakarta, Wednesday (21/9).

Not only that, President Joko Widodo will not abolish the electricity relief scheme which is currently being given to millions of postpaid state-owned electricity company PLN customers of the 450 VA power supply.

The state-owned electricity company PLN has adjusted the electricity tariff for non-subsidized household customers of 3,500 VA and above. The hike on electricity prices for large houses is mandated through the Ministerial Circular dated 2 June 2022.

According to PLN, customers with power supply below 3,500 VA, would not experience tariff changes. The tariff adjustment aims to ensure equitable access to the benefits of energy efficiency, especially to the under-resourced communities.

Indonesia’s Commitment Towards Clean Energy Is Unwavering

Jakarta – Another landmark of Indonesia’s green economy commitment is manifested through the Country Platform for the energy transition mechanism (ETM).

The Senior Advisor of the Executive Office of the President, Hageng Nugroho, said Indonesia is fixed with its unwavering commitment towards clean energy.

According to him, the Country Platform for ETM will be targeted as a fundraising hub, which can be tracked for green or low-emission investments. The ambitious plan will not only accelerate the clean energy transition towards zero net emission target, but will attract more investors to build sustainable working industries in Indonesia.

“The Country Platform for ETM opens Indonesia’s path to clean energy,” said Hageng in Jakarta, on Wednesday (20/7).

The Indonesian government launched the Country Platform for ETM on Thursday (14/7), during a G20 side event in Nusa Dua, Bali.

The Country Platform for ETM is a partnership between the government of Indonesia with the Asian Development Bank (ADB) and PT Sarana Multi Infrastruktur. The private bank partner will help in providing the necessary financing to accelerate the national energy transition, for example, funding for the accelerated early retirement of coal-fired power plants and replacement with clean power capacity.

“KSP strategically supports this policy and the office will assist the relevant technical ministries in gaining the trust of donors. KSP will work to push the information dissemination regarding to the country platform,” he said.

Meanwhile, the Indonesian government has prepared several strategies to boost the clean energy transition program in order to achieve the renewable energy mix target of 23 percent by 2025. Up until year 2021, he continued, the energy mix was still at 11.5 percent or around 50 percent of the target.

According to Hageng, the country is now shifting its interest to some investment towards renewable energy-based power plants: Hydro, Geothermal, Micro Hydro , Bioenergy, Solar Power, and so forth.

“Even during a pandemic condition, our sustainable and renewable energy-based investment is reaching 1.51 billion US dollars or 74 percent of the 2.04 billion US dollar target,” he said.

“KSP is very committed to clean energy purposes. Mr. Moeldoko as the Presidential Chief of Staff is actively campaigning for green transportation through the development of electric vehicles,” he concluded.

KSP Appreciates High Public Interest Towards MyPertamina App

Jakarta – The Executive Office of the President appreciates the high public interest in registering their vehicles on MyPertamina app and website to buy subsidized gasoline or diesel.

PT Pertamina Patra Niaga, the Sub Holding Commercial & Trading of the state-owned oil and gas company PT Pertamina, reported 50,000 vehicles have been registered at either the MyPertamina application or the subsiditepat.mypertamina.id website for subsidized fuel. The number itself was captured from July 1st to 4th, only a few days after the regulation came into force.

Meanwhile, it is reported that the MyPertamina application has been downloaded 4 million times.

The Senior Advisor of the Executive Office of the President, Hageng Nugroho, said that it indicates a public’s approval towards the government’s policy in ensuring subsidized fuel not to be abused.

“There has been a mutual understanding and awareness among the public that subsidized fuel should not be enjoyed by the upper classes. This is such a big leap for the country to provide equity in the subsidy system,” said Hageng, in Jakarta, Thursday (7/7).

The government, according to Hageng, has tried to shield the people from record gasoline prices due to soaring energy costs and skyrocketing international oil prices. The government has set the energy subsidy at Rp 502 trillion (USD 33.48 million).

Hageng said the policy was to prevent the wasteful use of subsidized fuel and to maintain its affordability for the poor. With that, the government hopes to protect the people from the economic impact of the soaring global oil price and to ensure domestic economic activity keeps running effectively.

“The government wishes to reduce the burden on the people,” said Hageng. “Therefore, people are also expected to be wiser in consuming subsidized fuel,”.

The Senior Advisor also encouraged the state-owned company to maintain fair distribution of subsidized gasoline or diesel, by conducting continuous outreach to the public and improving supporting infrastructure.

For the initial stage, the purchase of subsidized Pertalite gasoline through MyPertamina app would be implemented in cities located in 5 provinces: West Sumatra, South Kalimantan, North Sulawesi, West Java, and DI Yogyakarta.

The distribution of subsidized fuel is stipulated under the Presidential Regulation No. 191/2014 on procurement, distribution and fuel retail prices and BPH Migas Decree (SK) No. 4/2020.

KSP Pushes Acceleration of Dam, Roads Construction To Support Capital Nusantara City

Jakarta – The Executive Office of the President (KSP) has called for an acceleration of infrastructure development in North Penajam Paser Regency, East Kalimantan, to support the future Nusantara Capital City.

The Office has pushed related ministries/agencies through a coordination meeting on Wednesday (22/6) to immediately begin the physical construction of the Lawe-Lawe Dam and three supporting roads connecting the future capital with its satellite cities.

“This is such a long and tiring process, but all parties need to act in sync. KSP is ready to assist all these processes. Therefore, the coordination meeting is expected to produce some recommendations for policy makers,” said Deputy Chief of Staff for Infrastructure, Energy and Investment Febry Calvin Tetelepta.

The coordination meeting which was held at the Bina Graha Building Jakarta was attended by representatives of the Directorate General of Highways and the Directorate General of Water Resources of the the Public Works and Housing (PUPR) Ministry, as well as the Acting Regent of North Penajam Paser, Hamdam.

KSP also suggested three roads, namely the Riko-Maridan road and the Telemow Ring road in Sepaku District, as well as the Gunung Mulia-Sebakung Jaya road in Babulu District to be accelerated by the Directorate General of Highways.

In addition, the central government proposed the construction process of the Lawe-Lawe Dam, which has been stalled since 2018, be resumed by the Directorate General of Water Resources.

Although the availability of raw water resources from the installation of the PUPR Ministry is sufficient, Febry added, the existence of the Lawe-Lawe Dam would be beneficial to the wider community.

“There’s nothing wrong with immediately constructing the dam so that the water needs for the community around IKN can be met,” he said.

In addition to the Sepaku Semoi Dam and the Sepaku River intake, the Lawe-Lawe Dam in Penajam sub-district is also expected to be a raw water resource in the IKN area. However, the Lawe-Lawe Dam construction project which started in 2014 was temporarily halted in November 2017 due to the fiscal issue of the local government.

By then, the dam construction was proposed to be resumed and completed through the authority of the central government. KSP would further monitor and hold a follow-up coordination meeting with related ministries/agencies to discuss the matter.
