Alumni of the Presidential Staff Course Attended the World Food Conference in Rome

Rome – Graduates of the Presidential Staff Course (SSP – Sekolah Staf Presiden) have responded to an invitation from the world food organization, FAO (Food and Agriculture Organization), in Rome, Italy, on Monday, October 16th. They joined delegates from several countries to commemorate World Food Day at the World Food Forum (WFF) 2023.

WFF itself is an international forum that facilitates dialogue among various global stakeholders, including heads of state, farmers, and youth, with the aim of discussing global food supply strategies for the future.

FAO has invited these SSP alumni as a lesson learned program on youth empowerment to the world. “I have been asked to share the successful experiences of the SSP program as a global learning program, especially regarding youth empowerment,” said The Chief of Staff to the President, General (ret.) Dr. Moeldoko in Rome, Italy.

This United Nations organization saw the SSP program as a potential new model that can be applied in various countries, particularly as FAO currently focuses on youth issues for farmer regeneration.

“FAO hopes that Mr. Moeldoko can introduce youth programs and advocate for action by young people at the WFF Global Youth Forum,” as stated in the official letter from Qu Dongyu, FAO’s Director-General.

As known, the Presidential Staff Course is a program initiated by the Indonesian Presidential Staff Office since last year. This program selects 35 applicants who meet the qualifications from thousands of applicants in each batch.

The SSP program has been conducted twice, first from July 25th to 29th, 2022, for the first batch, and from July 2nd to 15th, 2023, for the second batch. The program aims to prepare young Indonesians to become future leaders capable of managing their country’s complexities. These two programs have successfully produced 69 talented alumni.

The Indonesian representatives will attend the conference for five days, starting from October 16 to October 20, 2023. The opening ceremony will be attended by the Presidents of Ireland, Iraq, and Paraguay, as well as the Prime Ministers of Tanzania, Bhutan, and Togo.

The alumni representing the SSP program include Bayu Teguh Samudra (SSP’s first batch) and Anansia Siena (SSP’s second batch). They accompany Dr. Moeldoko, who has been invited by FAO as a key speaker. By participating in WFF 2023, it is hoped that the experiences of Bayu Teguh Samudra and Anansia Siena will provide valuable insights into advancing the future of the global agriculture sector.
