Jakarta – There is a paradigm shift regarding the agriculture sector in Indonesia nowadays. Youth generation’s interest to be involved in the farming sector as well as its technology development are escalating, as said by The Chief of Staff to the President, General TNI (ret.) Dr. Moeldoko at Bina Graha, Jakarta, Friday (5/1).
During the signing of the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between Intiland and Saltware Korea in implementing smart farming technology, Moeldoko also mentioned that the image of agriculture in Indonesia is always identified as old people, poverty and simple tools. However, this problem can now be solved by linking the technology with agriculture development. “I affirm this as a new history because you will create a young generation who are gladly involved in smart farming, this is an astounding breakthrough,” said Moeldoko.
In terms of diplomatic relations, this collaboration aims to promote exchange of agriculture technology between South Korea and Indonesia. Before, Moeldoko had attended the World Food Forum (WFF) which was held in the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) headquarter to voice a real action in regards to face the threat of farmer regeneration by implementing agricultural transformation.
“We are not just talking about taking advantages related to the business matters, but what is more strategic is how to build Indonesia’s food security,” he added.
Moeldoko who also acted as the General Chairman of Indonesian Farmers Association (HKTI) has supported the Farmers Movement (Gerakan Maju Tani) to accommodate the younger generation that have interest in farmers and agriculture development. From this collaboration, said Moeldoko, could be an opportunity to gain modern agricultural knowledge from South Korea, along with experiencing the transformation of modern agricultural science and technology.
“I am very pleased to welcome this collaboration and involvement in developing this technology, also I believe this will be a milestone in building Indonesia’s defense forces that are increasingly bigger and stronger,” Moeldoko concluded.
The development of smart farming aims to optimize the productivity of the farming process management. The collaboration between Intiland and Saltware Korea is expected to gain penetration and the technology outsourcing process in the Southeast Asia region, especially in Indonesia.
