Jakarta – The Chief of Staff to the President, General TNI (ret.) Dr. Moeldoko received an official visit from the Minister of the Federal Republic of Germany, Dr. Tobias Lindner along with the delegation from the Embassy of the Federal Republic of Germany in Jakarta placed at Bina Graha, Jakarta, Wednesday (8/11). Granted that, Moeldoko appreciated positive development in the context of diplomatic relations between Germany and Indonesia, which have reached 71 years.
Furthermore, Moeldoko affirmed Germany’s support in concluding the Indonesia-Europe Union Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (IEU-CEPA). IEU-CEPA is considered important in creating joint-regulation in trade competition in the European market. Besides, the agreement also has the potential to boost national economic growth, create new jobs, as well as create opportunities for small and medium-sized enterprises (UMKM).
“I believe that this cooperation is on the right track, especially in the areas of energy, environmental transition, downstream processing and electronic vehicles,” said Moeldoko.
Regarding the investment, Moeldoko welcomed German investment in Indonesia that is focused on priority sectors such as industries related to exports to the electric vehicle (EV) industry ecosystem. Notably, in strategic mineral commodities for potential investment. “Demand and supply in electric vehicles are still unbalanced, obviously this could be a good investment consideration for Germany in Indonesia,” he added.
In the economic standpoint, Moeldoko asserted that Germany is Indonesia’s main trading partner in Europe, which in 2023 German investment reached US$ 117.820,2 billion, which is summed up in 1.156 projects. It is demonstrated that Germany is the third largest European investor in Indonesia by 2023.
“Marking the 71st anniversary of diplomatic relations between Indonesia and Germany, it can be seen that we are concede to various good cooperation potentials, especially in order to improve domestic productivity and human resources,” said Moeldoko.
In addition, Minister of the Federal Republic of Germany, Dr. Tobias Lindner stated that his visit this time was to demonstrate commitment of German-Indonesia cooperation, notably in sustainable development. He added that the support from both sides is the main factor to strengthening the relationship that has been built constructively and based on the common fundamental values that both countries have.
“We guarantee that we have the same interest and we are happy to work with Indonesia, for the IEU-CEPA we will see what kind of support we can provide to Indonesia. Of course, our visit here will not be the last time,” said Lindner.
