Jakarta- The Chief of Staff to the President, Dr. Moeldoko officially closed Jakarta Plurilateral Dialogue (JPD) 2023 in Hotel Borobudur, Jakarta, Wednesday (30/8). Moeldoko appreciated all the convenors with a full support to world’s peace.
Moeldoko said that good practice and narration is important to solve humanitarian problems. “Any intolerance issues need our urgent response and through JPD 2023 we will try to find a possible solution of what we’re facing now,” said Moeldoko.
According to tolerance and the world’s peace issue, Moeldoko affirm that technology has played a significant role as an information medium to the global community. It is often to find differences in expressing opinions, therefore Moeldoko also said it is important to keep diversity on a global level.
“Diversity is a gift from God, it is inevitable. Also, we can not avoid the problem of diversity, through this conference we could learn from many good practices and lessons learned from various countries. As well as to create any possible solution to tackle the problem,” said Moeldoko.
Moeldoko also emphasized the need for cooperation among nations to ensure the growth of democracy and to support more inclusive education to foster a spirit of tolerance.
“Our strong commitment to promoting tolerance is to create a world peace for everyone, regardless of religion or culture differences, and it is a global responsibility towards to make a more peaceful over time,” Moeldoko concluded.
The Jakarta Plurilateral 2023, attended by representatives from 33 countries, has produced a Convenor’s Note that emphasizes active implementation by governments and societies based on religion and belief. As conveyed by Senior Advisor of the Executive Staff of the President, Siti Ruhaini Dzuhayatin that international cooperation is a key pillar in achieving tolerance based on religion and belief.
“Different systems do not hinder domestic and foreign cooperation. Indonesia continues to prepare for both multilateral and bilateral cooperation to promote peace as an implementation of Resolution 16/18,” Ruhaini said.
During the two-days JPD 2023 event, five dialogue sessions were conducted with speakers from various stakeholders such as ambassadors, civil society organizations, academics, and media representatives. The entire discussion forum was initiated to explore best practices and global learning experiences in strengthening the implementation of Resolution 16/18.
JPD 2023 is a strategic forum to demonstrate Indonesia’s commitment. It is also in line with Indonesia’s candidacy to become the board member of UN Human Rights Council in 2024-2026, where Indonesia will showcase various national initiatives in religious moderation and the strengthening the culture of tolerance which can serve as lessons learned by fellow countries.
