Moeldoko Welcomed Thailand Parliament, Shares Good Experience of Indonesian Democracy

Jakarta – The Chief of Staff to The President, General TNI (Ret.) Dr. Moeldoko received an official visit from Chairman of The Standing Committee on Political Development, Mass Communication and Public Participation of the House of Representatives The Kingdom of Thailand, Parit Wacharasindhu and delegations at Bina Graha building, Jakarta, Monday (24/6).

On that occasion, Moeldoko assured that during the reign of President Joko Widodo has been working really hard to keep conducive investment climate. Namely, focused on economic stabilization and politic, development of an effective and efficient logistic system, as well as regulatory simplification.

“It has been the President’s directive to strengthen and support the investment climate as much and as well as possible,” he said.

Moeldoko stated that as democratic country, it is very important for Indonesia to maintaining balance between stability and openness. This include to make foreign investments accessible as strategic partner to achieve Indonesia’s Vision 2045 (Indonesia Emas 2045).

As for political communication, Moeldoko said that strategy employed involves anticipating various criticisms from the public and glorifying the government’s achievement has accomplished.

KSP: Economic Development at the Indonesia-Papua New Guinea Border, President’s Legacy on Welfare Aspects

Skouw, Jayapura – Senior Advisor of the Executive Staff of the President, Theofransus Litaay, emphasized that the Government of Indonesia continues to encourage economic revival and welfare of people in border areas, which is in Transnational Border Posts (PLBN) Skouw, Jayapura City. This act was taken as an evidence of the Government’s recognition that borders are the standing point of the country which must be managed well, including by paying attention to the welfare improvement of the surrounding community.

“With the facilities at PLBN Skouw, border management has become more organized and in terms of welfare, we are reviving the economic sector in border area,” Theo asserted after a working visit to the National Border Management Agency (BNPP) of Indonesia, Transnational Border Posts (PLBN) Skouw, Wednesday (29/5).

For information, this official visit conducted as field verification held by the Executive Office of the President related to the welfare development program of the community at state borders.

In 2017, during the inauguration of PLBN Skouw, President Joko Widodo affirmed that the presence of this border office must have a significant impact to the welfare of the society. Thus, with the existence of the PLBN, it can function as an economic hub while also eliminating smuggling practices in the border region.

Theo observed that trade activities between Indonesia and Papua New Guinea are well organized and can serve as a gateway for export-import development between two countries. Meanwhile, the acting Head of (Pj) PLBN Skouw, Mathilda Pusung, mentioned that PLBN Skouw has become a strategic economic development on the Indonesia-Papua New Guinea border. On market days in particular, there are many Papua New Guineans who shop for their daily needs, such as basic necessities (sembako) and clothing.

“The existence of the Market in PLBN Skouw is such a relief for the residents of Wutung, Papua New Guinea, it is cheaper in term of price,” she said.

As for information, in Skouw traditional market can serve 100-150 buyers from Papua New Guinea on weekdays. Meantime, on market days, which is Saturday, the number increased to 1000 buyers. KSP Oversee the Development of the Bali Maritime Tourism Hub (BMTH)

Bali – Deputy II of the Executive Office of the President (KSP), Abetnego Tarigan responds to the importance of the progress of the Bali Maritime Tourism Hub (BMTH) project, a strategic initiative aimed at transforming Benoa Port into world-class maritime tourism hub. This project is expected to play pivotal role in driving economic growth, especially to attract significant investment opportunity.

Bali Maritime Tourism Hub (BMTH) is one of the National Strategic Project (PSN), is poised to position Bali as a premier destination for luxury cruise travel and maritime leisure experiences, propelling the island’s economy to new heights.

Abetnego conveyed that the Executive Office of the President (KSP) collaborates with Coordinating Ministry of Maritime Affairs and Investment to oversee the development of the BMTH to ensure its successful completion as the PSN pointed by the President of the Republic of Indonesia.

“This project set as PSN since long time, we must ensure its successful completion,” said Abetnego during Coordination Meeting of Fishing Ship Transfer for the Development of Benoa Port, in Bali, Wednesday (8/5).

Moreover, Abetnego afiirmed that KSP and Coordinating Ministry of Maritime Affairs and Investment are working closely together and making PT. Pelindo as a pilot in the asset management agenda for BUMN since 2023.

During the coordination meeting, Indonesia Longline Tuna Association (ATLI) as a fisheries business actor around Benoa Ports supports any effort to develop and organize of the essential infrastructure for the BMTH project. In addition, ATLI hope to be include for discussion in supporting the successful completion of BMTH project to transform Bali’s maritime tourism landscape and propelling the island’s economy to new heights.

Responding to this, Abetnego along with the Director General of Fisheries KKP, represented by the Director of Ports and the Director General of Sea Transportation of the Ministry of Transportation, represented by KSOP Benoa II, said they would prepare a solution that would benefit various parties. This is also emphasis in supporting the fulfilment of BMTH as PSN, as stipulated in Presidential Regulation 109/2020 about the long-term effort that needs to be carried out to support of the ports functional aspects.

“KSP and related parties are committed to ensure the completion of BMTH project, and bring about numerous benefits for related parties, including relocation, site readiness, and fisherman’s needs that we can fulfil,” he affirmed.

Meanwhile, Director of Strategy of PT Pelindo (Persero), Presetyo, explained that currently has mapped the BMTH master plan into four areas, namely Existing Benoa, Development Area I, Development Area II, and Pelindo non-port HPL Area. Pelindo also prepared the development plan of the Port Associated Industry (PAI), which in this case to manage fishing vessels.

“There would be some alternatives to relocate the fishing vessels, so the development of BMTH can be implemented and can operated as targeted as one of the PSN,” said Prasetyo.

On that occasion, also attended by Assistant Deputy for Logistics Services of the Ministry of BUMN, Assistant Deputy for Navigation and Maritime Safety of the Coordinating Ministry for Maritime Affairs and Investment.

Moeldoko Shares Experience of Accelerating Digital Transformation in Indonesia at Huawei Digital and Intelligent Congress 2024

Bangkok, Thailand – The Chief of Staff to the President, General TNI (ret.) Dr. Moeldoko shared experiences of accelerating digital transformation in Indonesia and Indonesia’s plans to shift into a digital country at the Huawei Digital and Intelligent Congress 2024 forum which was held in Bangkok, Thailand, Monday (29/4). According to him, it effectively closes the digital gap as well as being the main step in building the quality of human resources in realizing the vision of Indonesia Emas 2045.

“The Digital Indonesia Vision (VID) is part of achieving the Indonesia Emas 2045 vision, which aims to create an inclusive and collaborative digital ecosystem based on innovation,” said Moeldoko.

As an Indonesian representative, Moeldoko was also share good experiences regarding digital transformation in Indonesia in this event. Accelerating digital transformation is being carried out in various industrial sectors, to support the energy transition and build a global health architecture as an effort to equalize access to digital resources.

Moeldoko added that the collaboration of digital ecosystem stakeholders is the key to advance a country’s digital transformation phase.

“Exploring digital transformation issues with stakeholders in various sectors in this forum is an important step to cease the digital gap,” said Moeldoko.

“This is related to preparing the human resources digital ability to achieve the vision of Indonesia Emas 2045,” he continued.

Meanwhile, President of Huawei Asia-Pacific Region, Simon Lin explained that Asia Pacific has entered a golden era in the development of the digital economy. He said that Huawei was ready to contribute by working with the government to stimulate the development of digital talent. “Digital transformation is not just about adopting solutions, but also must integrate technology into the economy and society,” he said.

Data from the Indonesian Internet Service Providers Association (APJII) in 2024 states that 220 million Indonesians are active internet users. Therefore, the Executive Office of the President welcomes Huawei’s initiative in developing digital talents. In this collaboration, more than 100 thousand digital talents have participated in Huawei’s digital talent cultivation program. In line with efforts to create digital inclusion and literacy, the government is trying to accelerate the development of digital talent on various fronts through regulations, education, training, skills improvement, certification and collaboration with various sectors.

KSP: Civil Society Needs to Take Action on Human Rights Festival 2024

Jakarta – The Executive Office of the President with International NGO Forum on Indonesian Development (INFID), National Commission on Human Rights (Komnas HAM), and Bitung City Government signed the Memorandum of Understanding on Human Rights Festival 2024 agenda, held at Komnas HAM Office, Jakarta, Monday (25/3).

The Human Rights Festival is an annual event to promote and disseminate the enforcement and advancement of human rights implementation in Indonesia. The festival will be held in the city of Bitung, North Sulawesi, from 29-31 July 2024, carries a theme of “Advancing Democracy, Fulfilling Human Rights, and Strengthening Community Participation in State Responsibility from Regional to National”. This theme accentuates the role of the state and civil society support to actualize human rights progress in Indonesia.

Deputy in action (Plt.) V of The Executive Office of the President, Rumadi Ahmad said that this event was a momentum to reflect the 10-year journey of the festival in promoting Human Rights implementation. He affirmed the relevance of the festival, not only in the seminar activities, but also various essential agendas of human rights in daily activity.

“So that, this Festival returns to its essence of not being an event itself that is distant from the community but as part of them,” said Rumadi after the MoU signing event, at the Komnas HAM office, Monday ( 3/25).

Rumadi also said that KSP is encouraging civil society involvement, both at the national level and especially at the regional level to become a major player in this year’s Human Rights Festival. “We need to fully accommodate the initiation, movement, involvement through various forms of activities,” he explained.

At one time, the Chairman of Komnas HAM, Atnike Nova Sigiro, explained that the implementation of the festival in Bitung will be a momentum to increase awareness, as well as efforts to enhance protection and solidarity in defending human rights.

“Through the various activities presented at this festival, we hope to initiate a deeper understanding of the importance of justice, equality and respect for human dignity. Together, we make this Human Rights Festival to inspire positive change towards a more inclusive society,” said Atnike.

Meanwhile, the Executive Director of INFID, Iwan Misthohizzaman, assessed that the festival is an important momentum for upholding human rights in Indonesia, especially during this election year and upcoming new national leadership with a lot of homework in the sector of promoting and resolving human rights violations. “Civil society continues to move in the field of promoting human rights and plays an active role in demanding state responsibility in enforcing human rights and democracy,” Iwan mentioned.

In addition, the city of Bitung as the host of this activity is based on the consistency and commitment of the Bitung city government in advancing human rights in recent years, and is not limited to the achievements as a city that cares about human rights in 2023.

“With the signing of the MoU today, Bitung City officially hosts the Human Rights Festival 2024. We appreciate this mandate and commited to run this agenda successfully. This festival belongs to us all,” explained the Mayor of Bitung, Maurits Mantiri.

The Human Rights Festival 2024 will be filled with various forms of activities, such as plenary discussions, parallel discussions and declarations, as well as non-conferences in the form of arts and culture performances, exhibitions, also trips to places with potential good practices related to human rights.
